Community Volunteers Student Club Collaborated with Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association and Distributed Food

Community Volunteers Student Club, one of the student clubs of our university, supported the food distribution of Çorbada Tuzun Olsun Association, which serves homeless individuals, on December 23, 2023.

The volunteers first packed the meals and placed them in bags and then received an orientation training for about 30 minutes. In this training, they were informed about the general work of the association, how volunteers should behave towards homeless individuals who are among vulnerable groups and how the process works. After the orientation training provided by the association, Community Volunteers Student Club members went to the field and interacted with homeless individuals and had the opportunity to examine the problem of homelessness in the field. By participating in these volunteering activities, our students contributed to poverty alleviation efforts and the fight against many socioeconomic inequalities that homeless people are exposed to, such as poverty, food insecurity and neglected diseases.

Seeing soup as a tool to reach homeless individuals living in extreme poverty, the association distributes food as a solution to the problem of malnutrition, while supporting homeless individuals to gain identity, employment and access to the health system.
