Our Youth Office Organized Events to Preserve Intangible Turkish Cultural Heritage

Our Youth Office which carries out educational, social, cultural, sports, and artistic activities in our campuses, delivered projects to record and preserve intangible Turkish cultural heritage included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Humanity.

A workshop on Turkish paper marbling art was held in our Youth Office on November 18, 2021. In the workshop with 15 participants, the trainer provided information about the Turkish traditional art of paper marbling (ebru), which was registered in 2014 by UNESCO to be included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Humanity. The participants also produced their own works of paper marbling art along with the trainer.

On December 30, 2021, our Department of Health, Culture, and Sports and Maltepe Youth Center jointly organized a Sira (Queue) Night. Our students and staff members who participated played the traditional Turkish musical instrument saz and sang Turkish Folk songs in the sira night, which is one of the Traditional Conversation Meetings registered in 2010 by UNESCO to be included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of Humanity. The guests were served çiğ köfte, a traditional Turkish dish.
