‘Human Factors in Traffic Psychology and Traffic Safety’ Event was Organised at Our University to Discuss the Relationship Between Traffic Accidents and Mental Health

‘’3rd Career Days in IMU Psychology‘’ event, organised by Istanbul Medeniyet University Department of Psychology and Psychology Application and Research Centre, was held online on May 25, 2023. In the event, traffic accidents and the impact of traffic safety on human health and behaviour were discussed.

Within the scope of the event, Asst.Prof. Dr. Derya AZIK ÖZKAN, in her presentation titled ‘Human Factors in Traffic Psychology and Traffic Safety’, drew attention to the effects of driver behaviour on traffic safety. In particular, she emphasised that the psychological state and mental health levels of drivers play an important role in preventing traffic accidents.

In the presentation, the relationship between psychological well-being and traffic safety was explained supported by various research findings. Dr ÖZKAN stated that increasing the psychological well-being levels of drivers is a critical step to reduce the risk of traffic accidents. In the event, where our students were offered a free vocational training opportunity, opportunities and suggestions to help psychology students shape their career planning were also presented.
