Dr. Sevgi KIRBOYUN TİPİ Delivered an Online Training on Developing Materials for Visually Impaired Students

Dr. Sevgi KIRBOYUN TIPI of IMU Special Education Department conducted an online training titled How can I Prepare a Tactile Picture/Graph/Map for Visually Impaired Students with Lowest Cost?” on September 1, 2022.

In the online training session, information was provided on how to prepare tactile materials, which are of great importance for students with visual impairments in their education. It was mentioned that such materials are important in creating an inclusive and effective educational environment for visually impaired students and for reducing educational inequalities. The participants were provided with information about the rules to be followed while preparing the tactile materials (map, picture, graphic, etc.) and how to read them. Then, information was given on how to create relief graphics, pictures, and tables with the lowest cost and using the materials at home and applications related to the subject were carried out together with the participants.

Interactive information exchange and a fun educational experience with applications was provided to the 19 participants, including families who have a child with visual impairment and educators who work for children with visual impairment.
