IMU Psychology Club organized an Event on Eating Disorders

Istanbul Medeniyet University Psychology Club organized an event on eating disorders. The speaker of the event was Specialist Psychologist Ezgi DEVECİ. The event was held on April 26, 2022 on the Zoom platform.

In her speech, Specialist  Psychologist DEVECİ aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of eating disorders and support individuals at risk of these disorders in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. DEVECİ began her speech by explaining the symptoms, causes, and effects of eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. She emphasized that these disorders are often associated with psychological, social, and biological factors that need to be considered in the treatment process. Furthermore, she provided information on the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy, and support groups in the treatment of eating disorders. In conclusion, DEVECİ highlighted the importance of better understanding eating disorders in society and increasing opportunities for early intervention.

During the event, the participants had the opportunity to ask their questions and share their experiences. In addition, important resources and communication channels were shared to provide support to individuals struggling with such disorders and their relatives.
