The Psychology Club Organized an Event on Street Shelter of Pets

Psychology Club of our university organized an online event called ‘Animal Care with Çağıl and Lola the Cat’ on May 20, 2021. The speaker of the event was Çağıl CELEP, the owner of the YouTube channel named “Kedi Lolayla”. In this event, moderated by the Social Responsibility team member of the Group, Alikan ATAŞ, the issue of caring for pets on the street was discussed.

CELEP started his talk by saying that it is getting harder for pets to live in the streets, whose natural habitats are decreasing due to rapid urbanization and demonstrated the construction of a ‘cat house’ to the participants in a practical way to facilitate the sheltering needs of pets. He mentioned that it is possible to build cat houses from waste cardboard, waste materials or wood and stated that the water and nutritional needs of stray animals can be met in these houses.

This event, which aims for the community-based protection of the stray animals living on land, has also brought to life the idea that ‘streets are the habitat of stray animals’ in accordance with the Animal Protection Law No. 5199 by raising awareness and inclusion of the society on this issue.
