The patent application of Asst.Prof.Dr. Muhammed Raşit CESUR, one of the faculty members of the Department of Industrial Engineering of our university, titled “A System For Detectıon Of Physıcal Defects In Pvc Profıles” was made in partnership with Ege Profil and Istanbul Medeniyet University.
A real-time and intelligent quality control station was developed with the Winsa Kartepe Plant owned by Deceuninck Group. The station was aimed to detect visual defects such as edge waviness, scratches, black dots (soot), staining, pin holes, tearing on profiles produced in extrusion lines. In this way, faulty production was prevented from continuing, contributing to material savings and sustainable production. In addition, thanks to the study, time, labour and energy losses were prevented by preventing the sending of defectively produced profiles to customers. The intelligent system, developed within the scope of supporting industrial diversification and value addition to commodities, monitors a product undergoing quality control and learns all the features of the product. Subsequently, it starts quality control. In this way, it was aimed to realise product and process innovation by developing an intelligent quality control station that can control without the need for any product-specific identification and can adapt to product diversity.
