İsmail AĞIR, Research Assistant at the Bioengineering Department of our University, made his presentation titled “A Quick Start to Do-It-Yourself Smart Farming: An Exemplary System with the Internet of Things” at the 4th AGRIBALKAN Congress organized by Trakya University between 1 August and 2 September 2022.
AGIR started his presentation by briefly talking about precision agriculture technologies that produce improved methods to solve the problems of fertilizer and water use in agricultural production. Then, he talked about environmentally compatible technologies for smart irrigation, which are becoming widespread to solve the problem of wild irrigation, which is very harmful to the environment and natural resources. The focus of the presentation is; With the widespread influence of the open source software and hardware trend, which is very popular in the world, and events such as Teknofest in our country, smallholder and food producers also had sensor-actuator-based precision irrigation systems as an example of what they can do for smart irrigation in their own production. The importance of these technologies was emphasized in contributing to agricultural innovation and ensuring sustainable management and effective use of natural resources.
Finally; It was emphasized that open source technologies act together with scientific literature and their positive contributions to today’s production and resource use were mentioned.
