Istanbul Medeniyet University Sustainability Office and IMU Sustainability Club continue to carry out social responsibility projects to improve public health.
Within the scope of the “3rd Istanbul Medeniyet University Sustainability Week” activities organized in cooperation with IMU Sustainability Office and IMU Sustainability Club between 18-22 December 2023, “Free oral health examinations” were carried out by our dentistry students in Ziraat Bank Library Foyer Area with the support of the Faculty of Dentistry. A total of 163 people received free oral health examinations during the week, contributing to everyone’s access to quality and safe healthcare within the scope of SDG3.
Our students from the Faculty of Dentistry examined the participants and asked questions about their nutrition and tooth brushing habits. They answered their questions by providing information on proper tooth brushing and flossing techniques, what to do to prevent cavities, and the dental development of children. Our dentist candidates, who voluntarily supported the social responsibility aspect of the Sustainability Week by participating, invited visitors who needed dental treatment to our university’s Dentistry Practice and Research Center and offered to create a treatment plan. On the other hand, our prospective dentists advised the participants to adopt a healthier lifestyle by explaining the factors that damage the oral teeth, such as sugary foods and smoking.
