Faculty member of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of the International Relations Dr. Elnur ISMAYIL gave a speech with the title “Security Challenges in the South Caucasus in the Context of the Russo-Ukrainian War” at the international security conference organized by Norway’s Fridtjof Nansen Institute and Bucharest University on 3-5 November 2022 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
Many academicians from European states who are experts in their fields attended the conference. Especially after the start of the Russia-Ukraine War, the issue of European security has been re-examined in many academic circles. In the conference where many dimensions of the war were discussed, ISMAYIL gave a speech on how the warfare would affect ethnic conflicts and security problems in the South Caucasus.
ISMAYIL, in his speech, drew attention to the fact that the security environment created after the 2nd Karabakh War faced new threats with the Russia-Ukraine war; He emphasized that attempts for a possible peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia were tried to be prevented by the interventions of a state like France.
Dr. İSMAYIL in his speech also touched upon Türkiye government’s diplomatic attempts to stop the Russia-Ukraine war and also explained the strategies it followed for peace in the South Caucasus.
