Databases Workshop Organized by IMU Informatics and Information Club

Istanbul Medeniyet University Informatics and Information Club (BİLEN) hosted an event on databases and publishing. This event was held on October 31, 2022 at Ideal Online Publishing with the presentation of Databases Specialist Burak Savaş SARIÇOBAN.

The talk and workshop aimed to provide a learning opportunity about databases and publishing, which are widely used by many disciplines, and also to improve and empower our students to conduct research in a more effective way. SARIÇOBAN offered club members electronic access to academic and popular journals in the fields of history, language and literature, sociology, political sciences, education, culture & art, music, health sciences, economics & finance, engineering, psychology, law. He gave information about publishing with “Online Database Training”. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of databases for institutions were also discussed in the workshop.

It was discussed in the event that effective use of databases enables the development and implementation of technologies such as data analytics, data mining, and artificial intelligence. It was emphasized that this plays a significant role in establishing resilient infrastructure and ensuring the sustainability of industrial sectors.

The importance of protecting databases was also mentioned in the event. SARIÇOBAN highlighted the need to protect databases for the security of privacy rights and personal data security. Ensuring the security of databases, preventing unauthorized access, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of data were emphasized as crucial aspects.

The database workshop aimed to provide a hands-on learning experience in database management. In this workshop, SARIÇOBAN focused on topics such as designing, creating, managing, and querying a database using a specific database management system.

The event concluded with a question and answer session following the presentation.
