“Deka’dans: Aesthetics of Destruction” Exhibition Was Carried out with the Cooperation of Four Universities in Our University Library

The opening exhibition of the international project Deka’dans: Aesthetics of Destruction, carried out by artimu.org in cooperation with Universidad de Zaragoza, Sakarya University and Universitat Politècnica de València, under the direction of Istanbul Medeniyet University, was hosted by our university.

Within the scope of the project, twelve works produced by thirteen artists in the genre of video and photography were exhibited in four different cities. The first of the exhibitions, curated by Prof. Dr.  Özlem OĞUZHAN, was opened by Istanbul Medeniyet University on June 13, 2022 at the Ziraat Bank Library of Istanbul Medeniyet University. The exhibition, which was open to the public, contributed to local art and cultural heritage.

The project discussed the social and individual problems experienced in the transition from the mass life of the industrial society to the speculative world of the information society. While generally speaking and thinking about restructuring and construction in transformation processes; In this project, it is exhibited and expressed that descent, fall and destruction also have a burning beauty in itself, and that this beauty is possible with hope. The works in the exhibitions with the claim that “People can find themselves in their ruins”; It dealt with the processes of disintegration, separation, decline and destruction of cultural, scientific, urban, existential nature.
