IMU Modern Dance Club Delivered Dance Training with a Dance Camp

IMU Modern Dance Club, one of the student clubs of our university, organized a two-day dance camp on February 10-11, 2022. Held in Hekim Berke foyer area and 3rd floor classrooms in K Block of the North Campus of our university, the classes were open to the participation of everyone interested. Four successful dance instructors delivered the trainings.

The first day of the dance camp started with an open style class given by Sertan TUTAR, an instructor at DansFabrika Dance School affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which is a dynamic dance type where participants can express themselves by combining many dance types. The second lesson of the day was given by Ege KONAKOĞLU, a student of our university and one of the founders of the club. In this class, Hip Hop exercises were practiced, a dynamic dance genre in which the dancer creates a work of art by combining free dance styles.

On the second day of the dance camp, Kaya GODFREY, one of the instructors of DansFabrika Dance School, led the participants in exercises in afro dance, a dance style with African origin. The second day training continued with the high heels dance, which is rapidly becoming popular today and is performed by women with high heels and aesthetic figures. In the training given by dance instructor Hürrem MİRİ, it was emphasized that this dance, performed with high heels, represents women’s upright stance against discrimination and difficulties.

With this camp, which aimed to provide an environment where all participants could have fun, socialize and learn new things, we contributed to art by providing artistic training to all participants in addition to supporting the personal development of our students as well as their vocational training. Young people were introduced to new knowledge, skills and cultures in a quality and safe university environment.
