“Storytelling for Children of Sevgi Houses” event was held online on February 21, 2021 by the Information Club of our University. In the event moderated by the Head of the Community, Elif Cansu Boz, Preschool Teacher Rümeysa Yıldırım gave the storytelling.
Within the scope of the event, Pre-School Teacher Rümeysa Yıldırım told educational and exciting tales to the children of Sevgi Houses. Yıldırım started by telling the tale of “Stone Soup” and told many tales to the children. The tales were enjoyed by the children. At the end of the event, thanks were given to everyone who contributed to the event for giving the opportunity to meet with the Sevgi Houses by collaborating with the club.
Established by the Ministry of Family and Social Policies as the product of a social protection policy that is unique to Turkey, Sevgi Houses are operated by the Child Protection Agency and opened its doors for the first time in 2011. In Sevgi Houses, orphans enjoy their fundamental rights such as education, housing, and healthcare to integrate socioeconomically disadvantaged children into society. Within these houses, there are activity areas and playhouses where children can improve themselves and socialize. Equally important are other kinds of support provided to disadvantaged children in these houses to establish healthy communication with them and to reduce inequalities. We congratulate our students for showing concern and being a good example in this regard.
