Prof.Dr.Yeşim GÜLEÇ ASLAN Delivers a Training on a Training Method for Individuals with Special Needs in the Context of Educator Trainings

Prof.Dr.Yeşim GÜLEÇ ASLAN, faculty member at Istanbul Medeniyet University, Department of Special Education, took part as an invited speaker at Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education Teacher Academies and held an online training on 2-3 April 2022 on Overview of Behavioral Skill Teaching in the Context of Educator Trainings.

The training, which was carried out within the scope of vocational education, was organized for special education teachers. Prof.Dr.Yeşim GÜLEÇ ASLAN gave her speech in order to support the skill development of individuals with special needs and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder in order to provide equal opportunities in education, to overcome the difficulties they experience in this regard to a certain extent, to participate in social activities and social environments at the highest level and finally to act independently as much as possible. She talked about the importance of accessing special education services from early childhood in order for them to lead a life. In line with this educator training, which aims to reduce the inequalities faced by individuals through an inclusive special education system, the participants were informed about story-based practices such as the power card strategy, which has been proven by research results to have positive effects on individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The training was completed by emphasizing that the use of this type for accessible education plays an important role in the development of these individuals.
