Aiming to examine the concept of addiction from every aspect, Green Crescent Club planned a different remarkable activity every day during the Green Crescent Week.On the first day of the 101st Year Talks series, Addiction and Family Counselor Alp Çağlan MAÇKAN met with the participants and examined addiction on a sociological basis, the social causes that lead to addiction, and what to do when faced with an addict. He pointed out to the recent increase in drug use, noting that it is increasingly becoming harder to prevent substance addiction. Therefore, he underlined the importance of the steps to take to prevent addiction. During the program, which was followed with great interest by the students of the Department of Social Work and Sociology, the questions of the students who wanted to work on addiction in their professional life were answered.

On Thursday, March 4, Prof. Dr. İhsan FAZLIOĞLU of IMU Faculty of Arts and Humanities delivered his speech titled “On the Concept of Addiction: Between Desire and Will”. In the speech, which attracted great attention from participants from outside the institution as well as from our university students, Prof. Dr. FAZLIOĞLU questioned the way the concept of addiction is generally handled, and how the concepts positioned and embodied in the minds affect our lives. With its philosophical view of the concept of addiction, the speech brought us one step closer to the goal of “Addiction in All Its Aspects”. Discussions were held about different types of addiction such as drug addiction, alcoholism, and smoking and their impact on human life.
