The project “I’m Learning How to Avoid COVID-19 Disease with Drama” conducted by Assoc.Prof. Aynur AYTEKİN ÖZDEMİR of IMU Department of Nursing has been completed.
The project was carried out within the scope of the Cooperation in Education Implementation Protocol developed in cooperation with the Rectorate of Istanbul Medeniyet University and Kartal District Directorate of National Education to draw attention to prevention of and protection against epidemic diseases for public health. The project was completed with a drama event held in Istanbul Medeniyet University Cevizli Campus Conference Hall on 19 January 2022.
The project team consisted of the faculty members of IMU Nursing Department Assoc. Prof. Aynur AYTEKİN ÖZDEMİR, Prof. Dr. Ayşe OKANLI, Assoc. Prof. Nesrin İLHAN, Assoc. Prof. Rujnan TUNA, Asst. Prof. Hacer ATAMAN, Asst. Prof. Cemile SAVCI, Asst. Prof. Berna DİNÇER and graduate student Rabia Aleyna ÇATAL and Instructor Emine BARBAROS. Within the scope of the project that was carried out in 2021-2022, the 2nd year students of our Nursing Department prepared drama performances under the coaching of their lecturers about the measures to protect against the COVID-19 disease during the pandemic. The performances covered issues about public health and contagious diseases and stressed the importance of social distance, hygiene rules, and wearing masks as preventive measures against the Covid-19 pandemic. The audience of the event included the students, school principal Emine BARBAROS, and teachers at Kartal-Şehit Timur Aktemur Secondary School. The health education projects for secondary school students, which are held with a new theme every year, are planned to continue in the following years.
