Career Club, one of the student clubs of our university, organized the ‘Entrepreneurship Talks’ event on April 28, 2022. Şerafettin ÖZSOY, the founder of the ‘in4startups’ platform, which brings entrepreneurs and investors together, took part as a speaker in the event held online.
In the event, ÖZSOY first gave information about the purpose of the establishment of ‘In4startups’ and the services it offers. Then he answered all the questions that students wondered about entrepreneurship and start-ups.
In his speech, ÖZSOY mentioned that start-ups are established to solve problems in a narrow field. He emphasized that in order for start-up entrepreneurs to be successful; they should have the characteristics of not waiting for a command to take a step, creating something different from the existing one by giving importance to product innovation and taking risks. He stated that entrepreneurship is primarily linked to adequate education and then good research, and that people who have been in business life for a certain period of time after their years of education and who closely identify sectoral needs have more successful initiatives.
ÖZSOY also told young people that capital is not a prerequisite for entrepreneurship and that they have financial access opportunities at the stage of realization of ideas. He stated that during the projecting phase of an entrepreneurial idea, each stage such as business plans, marketing plans and sales plans should be adequately considered. He mentioned that unsuccessful startups are usually those that develop a product that is not needed, work with the wrong team or enter the sector with insufficient financial resources.
In the last part of the event, which was very useful and productive for our students about the entrepreneurship ecosystem, successful startups in Turkey were discussed.
