The second face-to-face event of the “Dekanlık Söyleşileri (Dean’s Talks)” series organized by the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture of our university took place on April 28, 2022. In this event of the series, Research Assistant Furkan ERUÇAR shared with us his presentation titled “Fire Safety in Steel Structures”.

In the first part of his presentation, ERUÇAR gave basic information about fire, a disaster that can be encountered in all areas of life, and shared statistical data explaining the causes of fires in the world. On the other hand, he talked about passive and active fire safety measures that should be taken in urban areas against fire risks.

In the second part of his presentation, ERUÇAR talked about the development of steel material and its advantages and disadvantages. In addition, he explained with examples the methods that can be applied to protect the structure in case of fires that may occur in steel structures. ERUÇAR also touched upon how some of the applied protection methods can benefit sustainable buildings, which have become very important today. The seminar ended after the question and answer session following the presentation.
