2nd International Organ Donation Cartoon Contest for Public Health Awareness Held

The 2nd International Organ Donation Cartoon Competition, organized within the scope of the protocol signed between Istanbul Medeniyet University and the Turkish Organ Foundation, was concluded in December 2021. The award ceremony and exhibition event, which could not be held previously due to the pandemic, took place in Ankara on 10 June 2022.

The contest which was conducted by the Head of Visual Communication Design Department of Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture Assoc.Prof.Dr. Doğan ARSLAN, was organized by Istanbul Medeniyet University and Turkey Organ Transplantation Foundation with the support of other organizations. While the competition raised awareness on an important issue such as organ donation that concerns public health and promotes access to a healthy and quality life, it also revealed how art and design can be used effectively to shape the perspective of society by addressing social issues.

While 447 artists from 58 countries participated in the competition with a total of 952 works. A total of ten jury members, four of them from Turkey, voted and scored the works on the online platform. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Doğan ARSLAN received the plaque of appreciation from Özgül Özkan YAVUZ, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, on behalf of Prof.Dr. Gülfettin ÇELİK, the Rector of our university. Participating works in this international competition, which is very meaningful for both our university and our country, were exhibited free of charge and open to public access at Ankara Ulucanlar Prison Museum and Cultural Center until Friday, June 17, 2022.
