The head of our University’s Department of Psychology, Prof. Dr. Işıl BİLİCAN, delivered a seminar titled “Strategies for Coping with Stress” at the Ziraat Bankası Conference Hall on November 1, 2022.
Prof. BİLİCAN began her speech by discussing the effects of stress and anxiety on individuals and highlighting the importance of coping methods. She drew attention to the negative impacts of stress on physical, mental, and emotional health, emphasizing that it can lead to chronic illnesses in the long term.
During the seminar, Prof. BİLİCAN focused on various strategies and techniques that can be used to effectively manage stress. She emphasized the effectiveness of relaxation exercises, breathing techniques, time management, seeking social support, and positive thinking in enhancing individuals’ stress coping skills. Additionally, the benefits of stress-reducing activities such as meditation, yoga, and sports were also discussed.
The seminar was conducted in an interactive manner, and practical tips for coping with stress were provided to the participants. Lastly, Prof. BİLİCAN engaged in effective communication with the attendees, sharing her personal experiences and expertise on how to reduce stress. She also addressed the challenges encountered in dealing with stress by answering questions from the participants.
