An Event Was Held to Discuss Musical Instruments As A Cultural Heritage By The Turkish Music Department

The event titled “An Examination of Turkish Music Pitchs in the Context of the Kanun Instrument; An Alternative System Approach” prepared by Kanuni Sait DURGUN, and Yiğithan ENGİN, one of the students of the Turkish Music Department of IMU Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, was held on May 31, 2022 at 18:00 at Göztepe North Campus Ziraat Library Bankkart Hall.

In this interview moderated by Lect. Semih ÖZDEMİR, detailed information about the kanun instrument, which is a part of the cultural heritage with its role in Anatolian and Middle Eastern musical traditions, was conveyed to our Turkish Music department professors and students. In the event, the morphological features of the kanun instrument, which is one of the main instruments of Turkish Music, were evaluated in terms of its advantages and disadvantages. The sound systems used in Turkish Music were discussed and an alternative sound system that could be performed by Turkish Music instruments was presented.
