Assessment Meeting Held for Health Education Research Region Protocol Aiming for Contributing to Public Health in our Medical Education

An assessment meeting for 2021 was held at Üsküdar District Health Directorate on November 24, 2021 concerning the Health Education Research Region (SEAB) Protocol signed between Istanbul Medeniyet University and the Ministry of Health to provide public health and family health education to our medical students before and after graduation. During the meeting with the Ministry of Health Üsküdar District Health Directorate as one of our external stakeholders, important points were discussed regarding the functioning of undergraduate and specialty education in our Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Dr. Işıl Maral, Vice Dean of Istanbul Medeniyet University (IMU) Faculty of Medicine and Head of Public Health Department; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Sargın, Head of Family Medicine Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hacer Hicran Mutlu of the Family Medicine Department; Üsküdar District Health Director Dr. Yusuf Taşçı; and Dr. Akif Sezerol of Üsküdar District Health Directorate joined the meeting, where they discussed what is being done and to be done to ensure quality education for the students of IMU Faculty of Medicine at the pre- and post-graduation stages to raise healthy individuals and for public health.

The Health Education Research Region (SEAB) Protocol aims both to coordinate the education, research, and application services for our 6th-grade medical students and Public Health Department assistants and to provide the health services needed in our region in a more effective, high quality, efficient and accessible way. To date, approximately 850 intern medical students have completed their training in the relevant health institutions three days a week throughout their Public Health and Family Health internship period, and 9 TUS assistants from our Public Health Department have completed their three-month field training within the scope of the protocol.
