Assoc. Prof. Selma Arıkan Presented her Research on Burnout at the 8th Organizational Behavior Congress

The paper titled “The Relationship Between Positive and Negative Perfectionism and Burnout Through Workaholism” co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Selma ARIKAN from IMU Department of Psychology and Asst. Prof. Esra BAL from Acıbadem University was presented online at the 8th Organizational Behavior Congress organized by Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University on November 5-6, 2021.

At the beginning of the presentation, Assoc. Prof. Selma ARIKAN provided a definition of perfectionism , mentioning the positive and negative sub-dimensions of this construct. She noted that positive perfectionism has a positive relationship with employee well-being and negative perfectionism is negatively linked. She then provided an assessment for their study with a sample of 224 white-collar employees and explained the study results. She stated that the results support the model showing that positive and negative perfectionism predict workaholism and burnout sub-dimensions. Finally, she also mentioned that the positive and negative dimensions of perfectionism have different relations with the sub-dimensions of burnout.
