Asst.Prof.Dr. Ayşenur ERDİL Presented the Results of her Research on Technology-Oriented Product Innovations and Product Development Process

Asst.Prof.Dr. Ayşenur ERDİL, one of the faculty members of the Department of Management of the Faculty of Political Sciences of our University, presented the results of her research on technology-oriented product innovations and product development process with a paper titled “Technology and Innovation-Oriented Product Design and Development Process” at the Latin America 4th International Conference on Scientific Researches held in Mexico City on 3-6 November 2022.

In her study, ERDİL pointed out that innovation is of great importance in terms of meeting the needs of society and focusing on solving problems, as well as transition from industrial society to information society. In the research, a product innovation for market cart design was discussed. It was stated that the need for the use of methods such as developing technology and improved software systems and artificial intelligence for design has increased against increasing competition in the market.

In the research, it was emphasized that innovation does not only mean that businesses design, produce and launch a new product, but also that the company’s differentiation and modification of its existing products in order to create a product with superior features will be product innovation. Within the scope of the study, a new product design was introduced which was created by adding new features and new functions to traditional market carts. This newly designed market cart was characterized as an ergonomic, easy-to-use, eye-appealing, quality-oriented, and useful product that features various functions simultaneous, as well as having the features of price collection and expiration date display as the product is added. It was stated that this newly developed product attracts attention with its design, which will be reflected as a positive feature of the product from the moment it is launched into the market.

The research pointed out that the product’s life cycle, performance and economic efficiency are increased with changes that offer supportive innovations beyond its existing features. The study also discussed the growth strategies developed for the design of the products to make them competitive in the market. Efficiency analysis was used to measure competition targets. Resource efficiency and the importance of criteria such as sales status, expected costs, and all possible expenses on a yearly basis in the efficiency evaluation were mentioned. It was emphasized that innovations that meet social needs contribute to productivity by integrating them with technology.
