Participating in the seminar with his speech titled “Turkey in the Context of Transboundary Waters Law”, Dr. Yücel emphasized that the use of water has increased every year and meeting the need for clean water has emerged as a serious problem. Dr. Yücel noted that pollution and misuse of resources will cause water scarcity and a potential risk for water wars in the 21st century and pointed out that given the UN’s sustainable development goals, the issues of preventing regional climate change, access to safe and nutritious food, and protection of aquatic life should be carefully examined along with access to clean water.
At the seminar, Dr. Yücel also said that making clean water accessible to everyone and using it in an ideal way will be for the benefit of all humanity. In this respect, he emphasized that it should be re-evaluated not as a potential cause of conflict and war, but as an issue where cooperation and peace can be established between countries.
