The play, which is about Mehmet Akif ERSOY’s story of how he wrote the National Anthem, the precious treasure of our history, attracted great attention from the audience.

In his speech, Director Asst.Prof. Rüstem MÜRSELOĞLU said: “The play is the product of great effort and hard work by our students from different departments at our university, who set their heart on theater and have met the audience with two plays at the end of the academic year. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to properly commemorate the 100th anniversary of our national anthem during the pandemic. We are now experiencing the joy of commemorating our national poet M. Akif with you by performing our play “The Road to Independence” this year, with the support of our Rector.” He conveyed his thanks to Taha MACİT, head of the Theater Club, and all those who contributed to both plays.

After the performance, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih SARI, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Ekrem TAK, and our faculty members presented certificates of appreciation signed by our rector to the students and those who contributed to the play.
