Turkish Music Department 2nd Year Students Performed a Student Concert Consisting of Works Unique to Our Local Culture

The Student Concert event, prepared by the students of the Turkish Music Department of the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, under the direction of Lecturer Metin DURGUTLU, took place on June 9, 2022, at 18:00, at the Hasan Polatkan Hall in Göztepe North Campus Ziraat Library.

Students presented valuable pieces reflecting the musical richness of our local culture with Turkish musical instruments such as ney, tanbur, kanun, def, and bendir, composed in Nikriz and Hicaz makams, including Peşrev, Sirto, Şarkı, and İlahi forms.

The performances of the students from the Turkish Music Department garnered great admiration as they skillfully played the local musical instruments and captured the essence of traditional melodies. The concert showcased the abundance of Turkish musical instruments and provided an opportunity for their promotion.

Open to everyone at our university, the event offered a mesmerizing Turkish music experience as the students expertly played these unique instruments, creating an enchanting atmosphere with their characteristic tones. Our students’ public performance also made a contribution to local art.
