A Training was Organized for Secondary School Students to Gain Conflict Resolution Skills through Theater

Within the scope of the “Cooperation in Education Implementation Protocol” developed in cooperation with the Rectorate of Istanbul Medeniyet University and Kartal District Directorate of National Education, with the aim of determining the conflict resolution skills of school-age children and helping them gain conflict resolution skills with the training program to be carried out through theater, the project titled “Acquisition of Conflict Resolution Skills with Theater” was carried out by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Rujnan TUNA from the Department of Nursing and the project team included Prof.Dr. Ayşe OKANLI, Prof.Dr. Aynur AYTEKİN ÖZDEMİR, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nesrin İLHAN, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Berna DİNCER, Asst.Prof.Dr. Hacer ATAMAN, Asst.Prof.Dr. Cemile SAVCI, and MSc. Teacher Emine BARBAROS.

In the three-stage project, the first stage involved preparation of the themes for the “Acquisition of Conflict Resolution Skills through Theater” training. At this stage, the research team identified three themes for the trainings by classifying the themes for the acquisition of conflict resolution skills for secondary school students. Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing 2nd grade students took an active role as actors in the training through the theater method. On 28.10.2022 at 11:00-11:45 in Cevizli Conference Hall, theater performances were staged for 133 students studying in 7th grade at Istanbul / Kartal – Şehit Timur Aktemur Secondary School about the following themes:

– The importance of managing intergroup conflicts,

– The importance of managing interpersonal conflicts

– The importance of managing individual-group conflicts.
