Art History Club of our University Organizes Culture and Art Trips to Istanbul’s Historical Buildings

Art History Club, one of the student clubs of our university, organized a cultural and art event called ‘Istanbul Trip from Night to Sahur’. The excursions were carried out on Saturdays on the 9th, 23rd, and 30th of April 2022 from evening till the sahur time on Sunday morning.

The trip aimed to ceremonially convey the cultural and natural heritage of the 2000-year-old city of Istanbul to the students together with the buildings. The guidance and route of the trip was provided by the club advisor, Res.Asst. Yasin SAYGILI.

During the trip, which was attended by the members of the club, a short informative seminar about Ottoman Westernization in the last century was held at Sirkeci Train Station as the Istanbul stop of the Orient Express, which represents the Ottoman’s connection with Europe. Later, on the historical route known as Divan Yolu, the participants visited the Alay Mansion, Gülhane, the 3rd Ahmet Fountain, Çemberlitaş – Forum Constantine and Hagia Sophia, Sultanahmet Square, Beyazıt and Süleymaniye complexes listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
